Staunton Reading Society: The Best Book You Read in 2026

The year is almost over, and somewhere on your shelf or nightstand is the book that stayed with you longest. Bring it to the year’s last Staunton Reading Society.

Each participant brings one book they read in 2026 and introduces it briefly: what it is, why it stuck, and who should read it next. It doesn’t need to have been published this year. It only needs to have been the best thing you read. Expect a room full of other people’s favorites, any genre, and a reading list ready for winter.

What to bring:

• The best book you read this year

• Any genre, any publication year

• Curiosity and generous listening
